Unleash Evolution. Can Your Creature Survive?
Crazy Traits is the hilarious, hands-on game that makes learning about heredity, mutations, and natural selection an unforgettable adventure. Perfect for the classroom and family game night!
Create. Mutate. Survive.
A three-step journey into the forces of evolution.
1. Build Your Creature
Learn about heredity by using Parent Cards to pass on traits like sharp claws or thick fur. Discover how dominant ($AA, Aa$) and recessive ($aa$) alleles shape your organism.
2. Introduce Mutations!
Draw a Mutation Card and watch chaos unfold! Will your creature develop a helpful new trait, a harmless quirk, or a devastating flaw? Adapt to the unexpected changes.
3. Face the Environment
Flip an Environment Card! A sudden ice age? A new predator? Only creatures with suitable traits will survive to reproduce. This is natural selection in action.
Why Teachers & Parents Love It
"Crazy Traits has transformed my evolution unit. It's loud, it's competitive, and the learning is happening on a whole new level. It visualizes abstract concepts perfectly."
Mariah Davis
8th Grade Science Teacher
"Our family game night got a serious upgrade. The kids are learning about genetics and don't even know it. They just want to make the craziest creature that can survive the volcano!"

The Science Behind the Fun
We believe the best way to learn science is to see it in action. Here are the core concepts that power the game.
Heredity: Passing on Traits
Heredity is the process of passing genetic information from parents to offspring. In Crazy Traits, you do this with Parent Cards! You'll learn about genes (controlling traits), alleles (versions of genes), and how dominant and recessive alleles determine what your creature looks like.
Mutations: The Engine of Change
Evolution couldn't happen without variation, and mutations are the ultimate source of it! A mutation is a random change in DNA. The Mutation Cards in the game reflect this randomness, providing beneficial, harmful, or neutral changes that natural selection can act upon.
Natural Selection: Survival of the Fittest
This is the central mechanism of evolution. The Environment Cards create challenges. Individuals with traits best suited to those challenges are more likely to survive, reproduce, and pass on their genes. "Fittest" doesn't mean strongest—it means the best fit for the current environment!

Frequently Asked Questions
What age group is Crazy Traits for?
The core game is designed for ages 10 and up. It's used by teachers from 5th grade through high school biology. Younger players can enjoy the basic creature-building, while older players can delve deeper into the strategic and genetic elements.
How long does a game take to play?
An average game with 3-4 players lasts about 45-60 minutes, which is perfect for a single class period or a family game night.
Is it scientifically accurate?
While simplified for gameplay, the core mechanisms of heredity (dominant/recessive alleles), mutation, and natural selection are accurately modeled. We worked with science educators to ensure the concepts are sound and effectively teach the intended principles.
